A Quantum leap forward in ESP energization
Switchmode power supplies ( SMPS) have greatly improved electrostatic precipitator viability and performance compared to baghouses, and PowerPlusTM is emerging as the preferred switchmode supplier for precipitators worldwide.
Many ESP manufacturers now incorporate PowerPlus into their designs, allowing them to build smaller units with more collection efficiency. Generating stations around the world have successfully retrofitted their old T/R sets with PowerPlus units.
Why PowerPlus?
If you build precipitators:
- Improved performance. Higher average voltage delivered to the fields produce higher particle migration velocities. This increases the collection rate and reduces stack opacity.
- Integrated system. PowerPlus integrates the transformer and controls in a single package, simplifying ESP design. Transformer and controls are co-located, reducing installation time and cost..
- Reduced precipitator size. A number of ESP OEMs design smaller precipitators due to greater collection efficiencies. A smaller box also means fewer electrodes, plates, rappers and hoppers.
If you operate precipitators:
- Improve inefficient ESP operation. A number of coal-fired generating stations have dramatically improved their opacity measurements just by replacing their old T/R sets and controls with PowerPlus.
- Cost-effective ESP upgrade. Upgrading your T/R sets to PowerPlus is a very cost-effective upgrade strategy. Some of our customers have been able to realize kVA savings in addition to improving their collection efficiency. Sound too good to be true? This technical bulletin explains how it's possible.
- After-sales life cycle support. NWL provides complete logistics, service, and technical support for the entire service life of PowerPlus. Visit our service page for more info.
