- Container for oil to be removed (suggest 30-gallon Rubber Trash Barrel)
- 1/2” Pipe Nipple to fit T/R Drain Valve
- 5/8” Hose (4 ft.) to fit Pipe Nipple
- 9/16” Wrench
- 7/16” Wrench
Safety Precautions:
1. PRIOR TO PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE, ENSURE THE T/R SET IS DE-ENERGIZED AND LOCKED OUT USING THE PROPER INTERLOCK SEQUENCE.
2. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE T/R OIL. OIL CONTAINERS SHOULD BE CLEAN AND KEPT COVERED TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION.
Procedure:
1. The oil level must be drained down below the position of the liquid level gauge. The T/R drain valve can be connected to a 5/8” hose with the 1/2” by 4” pipe nipple and the oil drained into the clean rubber trash barrel.
2. The oil level can be determined to be low enough when the level gauge reads at the lowest marking. The level can also be observed by removing the hand hole cover and assuring the level has drained to absorb one inch below the gauge hole in the tank wall.
Do not drain more oil than is necessary for this repair.
3. The gauge nuts can now be unscrewed with a 7/16” wrench and the gauge removed.
4. Clean the gauge hole area to assure a good seal for the new gauge.
5. Install the new gauge with a new gasket. Be sure the gauge face is correctly positioned and the gauge level float is able to move freely.
6. Secure the new gauge in place with the 1/4” nuts and lock washers. A snug nut adjustment is all that is required.
7. The drained oil can now be poured back into the T/R through the hand hole.
8. Finally, secure the hand hole with the lid clamps and replug the drain valve.
